Maintenance Technician — Biochar Production

Summary 

Robinson Carbon is hiring a Maintenance Technician to keep our Alexandria, Louisiana biochar facility running reliably. You'll own the preventive maintenance program for our BET PRD1000 pyrolysis reactor and material handling equipment. Be the first call when something breaks. This is a chance to build a maintenance program from the ground up at a first-of-its-kind production site. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Preventive Maintenance: Execute the scheduled maintenance program on the pyrolysis reactor, conveyors, augers, and material handling equipment, including lubrication, belt and chain adjustment, and filter changes 
  • Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic faults across the reactor system and supporting equipment 
  • Parts & Inventory: Maintain spare-parts inventory, order replacement parts, and keep accurate maintenance logs 
  • Emergency Response: Respond to unplanned equipment failures and prioritize repairs to minimize production downtime 
  • Collaboration: Coordinate with the Production Lead and Reactor Operators to schedule maintenance windows that avoid disrupting production runs 
  • Safety Compliance: Follow lockout/tagout and other safety protocols; use required PPE at all times 

Requirements & Qualifications 

  • Experience: 3+ years of industrial maintenance experience, ideally with rotating or high-temperature equipment (boilers, dryers, kilns, or similar) 
  • Technical Skills: Comfortable reading electrical schematics and mechanical drawings; basic PLC/HMI troubleshooting a plus 
  • Trade Skills: Welding, fabrication, or millwright experience preferred 
  • Shift Flexibility: Available for day or night shifts and occasional on-call support 
  • Education: To be determined based on candidate background 
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in an industrial environment that may involve heat and dust 
  • Equipment Operation: Safely operate front-end loaders, skid steers, forklifts, and other rolling stock to move feedstock and finished biochar around the site
